If your new to Rollerblading you will likly want to start with the
Starting Out page and the Basics page before trying these tricks.

Below are some of the FUNDEMENTAL GRINDS that are the foundation for other grinds and tricks.
Depending on which is your lead foot, you may feel more natural to do the reverse of some of these drawings.

All these positions should be practiced first as STALLS on a step or curb.

To see a video of most of these grinds, check out the Video below

Also Remember, grinds are just one part of aggressive skating and learning other stuff is just as cool. Check out the no grind Video below

FRONTSIDE GRIND ( See Photo )

You come at the curb or rail along side it and jump into this position with your TOES of your boot crossing the grinding surface. You will be sliding on your H-Blocks of your frame. Be sure that your feet are at least shoulder width apart for balance.

MAKIO GRIND ( See Photo )

This is a one footed grind where your soulplate slides along. The other foot can be grabed or just lifted.

MIZOU GRIND ( See Photo )

Just like the Makio but your trailing foot is put on and it can take some of your weight.

SOUL GRIND ( See Photo )

Like The Makio but your other foot is placed in front. It helps to bend your knees and get lower for this one

BACKSIDE GRIND ( See Photo )

You come at the curb or rail along side it and jump into this position with your HEALS of your boot crossing the grinding surface. Be sure that your feet are at least shoulder width apart for balance. This one is harder than the fronside because you may need to jump slighty higher to cross the grind surface and it is more difficult to spot your landing.

ACID GRIND ( See Photo )

Like the Soul Grind but your front foot is turned around.

PORN-STAR GRIND ( See Photo )

Like a Mizou Grind but your back foot is turned around.

UNITY GRIND ( See Photo )

A grind where your feet are crossed. It may help to get low. Some people find this easier if they already know the acid and porn-star grinds because they are comfortable with the twisted foot position. Also knowing how to royalle helps because your skates will be leaned over on the backslide plate like a royalle. This trick can be done frontside or backside.

"Alot of the pros you see in Rollerblading vids wear special kneepads and shin guards that are designed to be hidden under their clothing for their photo and video shoots. When they are not filming and working on new tricks they wear all the best safty gear and do other things like put plywood on stairs below a handrail they are practicing on. So don't think your being cool like a "pro" when you don't wear safty gear and fuck yourself up." -- Ray Hill (USA)
